Itinerary
Upon your arrival in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, a driver will take you to your hotel. Enjoy the short ride from Nikola Tesla Airport, taking in the sights of New Belgrade with its iconic ‘blocks,’ a symbol of post-World War II Socialist architecture. You’ll also pass modern business hubs like the impressive Ušće Tower. Your driver will point out landmarks like the Western Gate of Belgrade, the famous Belgrade Arena, and the grand Palace of Serbia. Check-in at the hotel, then use your free time to relax and get ready for your upcoming adventures. At 7 pm, head to the hotel reception for an introduction from your guide and a detailed briefing about the trip. This is also a chance to meet your fellow travelers. In the evening, consider a leisurely walk through one of the city’s oldest districts, leading to the bohemian heart of Belgrade, Skadarlija. Along a charming 19th-century cobblestone street, you can try local specialties and enjoy traditional music in numerous ‘kafanas.’
After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Belgrade, famous for its diverse architecture, rich history, and stunning river panoramas. Your journey begins at the Museum of Yugoslav History, honoring Josip Broz Tito. Along the way, you’ll see FC Red Star stadium, visit the iconic Temple of Saint Sava, and enjoy a brief break with panoramic views. The tour covers key landmarks like Saint Mark’s Church, the Serbian National Parliament, White Palace, and Republic Square, all surrounded by cultural institutions. Wander Knez Mihailo Street, explore the Orthodox Cathedral Church of Saint Michael the Archangel, and discover a historic tavern. Lastly, explore Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress, a significant cultural and historic site where the Sava and Danube rivers converge.
After breakfast and check-out, we’ll leave Belgrade in the morning, heading west to the stunning Ovčar-Kablar Gorge along the meandering West Morava river. Our journey then continues to Tara National Park. Experience its beauty from the ‘Nostalgia’ train on the Šargan Eight narrow-gauge heritage railway, offering a glimpse of the past with breathtaking mountain scenery, tunnels, and viaducts.
This historic railway, originally part of the Belgrade to Sarajevo route in the early 20th century, is a true gem. After this adventure, we’ll reach the ethno village Drvengrad, created by filmmaker Emir Kusturica. Drvengrad, with the Mećavnik Hotel, features houses, galleries, shops, a cinema, and a church, constructed primarily from natural materials, especially wood. Since 2008, Drvengrad has hosted the Küstendorf Film and Music Festival.
Following our exploration of Drvengrad, a short drive will take us to the famous Zlatibor Mountain, Serbia’s first royal resort. Enjoy a leisurely stroll in the charming town center of this picturesque air spa. In the evening, delight in a delicious dinner showcasing traditional Serbian cuisine typical of the region at the hotel.
After breakfast and check-out, we’ll continue our journey to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We’ll drive to Višegrad, where Emir Kusturica’s creative vision brought Andrićgrad to life, also known as Stone Town, by the Drina River, near the iconic UNESCO-protected bridge from Ivo Andrić’s novel “The Bridge on the Drina.” We’ll have lunch at Zlatna Moruna restaurant in Andrićgrad, adorned with frescoes by artist Bisenija Tereščenko. Afterward, we’ll head to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and check into our hotel. Following a short rest, our Sarajevo sightseeing tour will begin, covering key landmarks like Sarajevo City Hall (Vijećnica), a symbol of Austro-Hungarian architectural splendor. We’ll explore the historic Baščaršija, Sarajevo’s downtown, with authentic Ottoman-era shops and souqs. Our journey will also take us to the 16th-century Orthodox Church, the Gazi Husrev-bey mosque, the 17th-century Sahat Tower, and Europe’s first public toilet. We’ll cross the Latin Bridge, where Gavrilo Princip’s shot that ignited the First World War took place. Our path leads to the 16th-century market complex, Bezistan, and the bustling Ferhadiya pedestrian zone, where the Sarajevo Synagogue (1580) and Catholic cathedral (1881) await. Finally, we’ll return to the hotel for the night.
After breakfast and check-out, we’ll head to Mostar, an enchanting city in the Balkan Peninsula. During our walking tour, we’ll visit the iconic Old Bridge, a UNESCO-protected gem and one of the top 10 Balkan attractions. We’ll also explore the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, the Crooked Bridge, and the historic tanner’s quarter, Tabhana. You’ll have some free time in Mostar to enjoy lunch (not included) by the Neretva river, with a stunning view of the Old Bridge. Our journey continues to Blagaj, a 15th-century town with a rich history and the birthplace of Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There, you’ll be captivated by the monastery set in a fairytale-like setting by the emerald green river Buna. Our final destination for the day is Trebinje, a picturesque town with diverse cultures. We’ll explore the Arslanagića Bridge and stroll through the old town’s narrow streets, leading to the charming ‘Poet’s Square’ where you can relax under 115-year-old trees. Your overnight stay will be at the hotel.

Afterward, make your way to Kotor, an ancient Mediterranean town with origins dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries. Explore UNESCO-listed sites, including churches and cultural landmarks. You’ll have some free time to explore the old town or dine in a romantic square (meals not included).
Our next stop is Dubrovnik, a historic walled city that has stood since the 7th century. Take a stroll along the 2 km-long city walls to enjoy breathtaking views of the old town.
